Favorite Movie: There are so many good movies out there to watch, and some that aren’t so great that are still fun to watch. I’ve always loved the movie, “Pete’s Dragon” (the one with the cartoon dragon,) and I’m pretty sure that I was the top renter of that movie at the video store when I was a kid.
Dream Vacation: I have a strange allergy that knocks out a lot of vacation destinations that others love to travel to on a regular basis. Because of my allergy to sand, I’ve never wanted to go the beach or any place known for that type of ground. So those amazing trips that they give out on “Wheel of Fortune” are not for me. However, if I were to revisit a location I’ve been to again, I would love to return to the where I lived one Summer semester in London. It’s been over 20 years, and I still long to go back.
Last meal on Earth: I love all sorts of food, so I’m not sure where to go with this question. I like a good KC Strip steak with A1 sauce unless it’s been buttered, and then you definitely don’t need anything extra. However, I have always loved pizza and mac & cheese. I’m not the biggest dessert person, but I do like a good cookie when they are homemade.
What superpower would you choose, why? This is a loaded question if you are a fan of anything X-Men, Avengers, or any type of hero group. I’m going to step away from those famous characters and steal a power from character in a TV show I’ve seen. That power is to “freeze time.” Imagine that you see someone about to fall down or drop something, and you could stop time, walk over to help them stand up or reset the object so it wouldn’t fall, and then restart time which would stop the horrible event from occurring. I think it could be so beneficial in helping others, and it might also help me when I procrastinate too much.
Favorite thing about your job: It’s always a great time when the praise band and singers get in a groove on a song. The Holy Spirit takes over, and whether it’s during a HUMC service on Sunday or during a rehearsal, we all feel the presence of God in that space.
More about Sam…. I am a life-long learner that loves to teach people. I have a degree in music education, but I love teaching multiple areas as a substitute teacher for the Harrisonville School District. Recently, I’ve been learning a lot of new things in the realm of technology to help the sixth grade online students, my Mother with her first smart phone, and updating myself about all things Google and Microsoft Office. It’s a lot of fun to play around with new things. I do like to edit videos, and I am love letting my creative monster out. Here’s a fun video that I made for my students using Powerpoint.— https://youtu.be/EtNaSTSiiIw
